TOPIC: 5 THINGS I NEED TO CHANGE/STOP DOING IN 2020

1. ENVIOUS OF OTHER PEOPLE’S SUCCESS

  • ROOT CAUSE: Insecure of my own achievements and self-worth
  • MANAGEMENT: Be supportive of my loved ones, guide them to be the best version of themselves. Remember that it will come back to me eventually. Be genuinely happy and proud of their achievements.

2. REACTIVE/EMOTIONAL TOWARDS A STRESSFUL SITUATION

  • ROOT CAUSE: Lack of inner peace, anxiety and agitation.
  • MANAGEMENT: Meditate. Before reacting, take a step back, reflect and examine my emotions. Ask myself: “Why am I feeling this way? What kind of person do I want to portray myself as? Does this align with my values?”

3. JUDGING OTHERS/CRITICIZE TOO MUCH

  • ROOT CAUSE: Arrogance. Pent-up anger.
  • MANAGEMENT: If it’s not going to make the situation any better, then just SHUT UP. Better to give constructive feedback than to criticize. Remember ideal meritocracy and radical transparency.

4. IMPATIENT

  • ROOT CAUSE: Due to delayed work and wanting to get over things fast (because no proper planning?), team members slow to move and do not have the same drive
  • MANAGEMENT: Plan ahead earlier. Execute early. Do not procrastinate. Take a step back and evaluate. What are my values? How do I want people to see me?

5. LACK OF SELF-ESTEEM

  • ROOT CAUSE: Feelings of inferiority. Need reassurance. Feel like I’m not good enough. Self-doubts.
  • MANAGEMENT: “It’s all in the mind”. Ignore what other people think and do what you think is best for you. Be calm, composed and collected. Be humble, but assertive and confident. Relentless practice for a certain task or skill to gain confidence. Know what to expect to be mentally prepared and prevent negative emotional reaction.
